Una científica, Eva Soderstrom (Amanda Tapping), descubre que un codicioso industrial, Thomas Abernathy (Malcolm McDowell), está intentando crear un agujero negro en la tierra. El mismo experimento mató al padre de Eva años atrás, sólo que esta vez el agujero pretendido es más grande.. y amenaza a todo el planeta.
