EL MAGO serie 1973 THE MAGICIAN

Anthony Blake es un mago muy compasivo y rico, que usa sus talentos como ilusionista y escapista para ayudar a la gente en problemas. Max Pomeroy, un amigo que es un columnista sindical, lo describe como "una de las pocas personas en esta era de adormecimiento, que todavía puede considerar el sufrimiento de un ser humano como el suyo." Está motivado para ayudar, porque había sido falsamente encarcelado en América del Sur para el espionaje.

Excalibur (1981)

Excalibur es un film épico y de ciencia ficción, co-producción estadounidense y británica del año 1981 que lleva a la pantalla grande una obra de Sir Thomas Malory La muerte de Arturo. El film fue dirigido por John Borrman, quien participa de la producción y del guión. Con las actuaciones de Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren, Nicholas Clay, Nicol Willaimson, Cherie Lunghi, Paul Geoffrey y Robert Addie.

Un film que trata de desnudar la trama histórica de este clásico de la literatura y de la leyenda que envuelve los mitos que no alcanzan a desentrañarse como una fantasía o una realidad. Y lo desnuda para arroparlo únicamente con la simbologia y el misticismo, acercándonos a una obra, imposible de precisar históricamente, pero que es pasible identificar con la cultura celta, a pesar de su contaminación  cristiana. Un relato tan manoseado por el séptimo arte, que este film nos amiga.

Luego de una cruenta y sangrienta guerra, Uther Pendragon, como parte de una intriga, ruega a Merlin, poderoso mago de aquellos lares, que le ayude a seducir a la esposa de su nuevo aliado, el Duque de Cornwall. Merlin, acepta. Pero a cambio quiere el hijo primero que salga de esta unión. Así es como es concebido Arturo.

18 años después, los nobles de un reino, cuyo trono ha quedado sin rey que le ocupe, intentan hacerse de la excalibur. Una poderosa espada mágica, que se encuentra incrustada en una piedra, desde la muerte de Uther, su último dueño. Solo aquel digno de poseerla, sera el que sea capaz de sacarla de la piedra en la que se encuentra confinada.
